The library user is our main focal point for this issue of, but this is the case every day for those of us who work in libraries. It is important to continue to ask questions about which services are in demand and how to develop them as best we can to reflect the interests of our users and to fulfil the duty libraries have to society. It is particularly important to pose these questions in a digital age where there are more people surfing the internet than coming to the libraries: Not to mention the fact that we must assess where and how the library should be represented on the internet. High-income people spend a lot more than do average people on education and retirement savings. If we were trying to get clues about good gifts from what the rich do, then we should give people education and future consumption. They know enough who know how to learn. There is no education like adversity. You have to teach them how to stop being inhuman. Self-education is, I firmly believe, the only kind of education there is. There are some things you lean best in calm, and some in storm. I consider that a man`s brain originally is like a little box or white paper (tabula rasa). Depend upon it there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones. No man burdens his mind with small matters unless he has some very good reason for doing so. Studies serve for delight, for ornaments, and for ability. An education isn't how much you have committed to memory, or even how much you know. It's being able to differentiate between what you do know and what you don't. If you have to ask, you shouldn`t even ask. Education is when you read the fine print. Experience is what you get if you don’t. I should wish to see a world in which education aimed at mental freedom rather than imprisoning the minds of the young in rigid armor of dogma calculated to protect them through life against the shafts of impartial evidence.Education has failed in a very serious way to convey the most important lesson science can teach: skepticism. It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it. I respect faith, but doubt is what gets you an education. One good schoolmaster is of more use than a hundred priests. Learning without thinking is useless. Thinking without learning is dangerous. Every man I meet is my master in some point, and in that I learn of him. Teaching is only demonstrating that it is possible. Learning is making it possible for yourself. We learn from failure, not from success! There are two ways of spreading light: to be The candle or the mirror that reflects it. You must learn... to see what you are looking at. No such thing as bad students, only bad teacher. People never learn anything by being told; they have to find out for themselves. Men are born ignorant, not stupid. They are made stupid by education. Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood. All your questions can be answered, if that is what you want. But once you learn your answers, you can never unlearn them. The more expensive a school is, the more crooks it has. Marriage can wait, education cannot. Ignoring isn`t the same as ignorance, you have to work at it. The art of teaching is the art of assisting discovery. Children must be taught how to think, not what to think. To teach a child an instrument without first giving him preparatory training and without developing singing, reading and dictating to the highest level along with the playing is to build upon sand.( Kodály Zoltán) What is a teacher? Someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she already knows. Education is an admirable thing, but it is well to remember from time to time that nothing that is worth knowing can be taught. When you learn, teach, when you get, give.Teaching is not a lost art, but the regard for it is a lost tradition. If you want to get laid, go to college.Learn everything you can, anytime you can, from anyone you can - there will always come a time when you will be grateful you did. I have never let my schooling interfere with my education. I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions in which they can learn. Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever. Why should society feel responsible only for the education of children, and not for the education of all adults of every age? Good teaching is one-fourth preparation and three-fourths pure theatre. You live and learn. At any rate, you live. The greatest education in the world is watching the masters at work. Example is the best precept. Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs only to the people who prepare for it today. I am always ready to learn although I do not always like being taught. There was never a good knife made of bad steel.The father who does not teach his son his duties is equally guilty with the son who neglects them. A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. Education is learning what you didn`t even know you didn`t know. Education is the movement from darkness to light. Children have to be educated, but they have also to be left to educate themselves. The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.When you speak, you're only repeating things you already know. When you listen you learn. My mistakes have been my greatest mentors. Kids who don`t eavesdrop on adult conversations are doomed to a childhood of ignorance. You don`t have to teach people to be human. Education is the key to unlock the golden door of freedom.
