Hungarian youngsters aged between 11 and 16 use online community portals well above the European average and have the most online friends on the continent, researcher Ithaka Nonprofit company said on Wednesday quoting the results of an international research project carried out in 25 countries.
Some 45 percent of Hungarian youth have more than 100 online friends, as against the European average of 29 percent, the research project carried out as part of the European Commission’s Safe Internet Programme said.
Some 58 percent of Hungarian youth use the internet daily and 35 percent once or twice a week, which corresponds to the European average, the research shows.
At the same time, only 38 percent of Hungarian youth have the internet at home, as against the European average of 48 percent.
Hungarian children start using the internet at age of nine, which also corresponds to the European average.
